Your involvement in the Chamber, whether through committee involvement, attendance at social functions, or periodic community events is immeasurable.  Just one business referral, one new customer, one targeted piece of information from a fellow business associate can easily pay for one year’s membership in the Chamber of Commerce.  With over 260 members, in addition to their employees, the possibilities are endless.

Referrals

When individuals call inquiring about services, products, or certain types of businesses, only Chamber member businesses are referred.  The Chamber office receives an average of 1,300 referral calls a year.

Membership Directory

The new Membership Directory will be updated quarterly to allow new members and expanding businesses the opportunity to take advantage of this benefit immediately and provide our members with the most current information available.  All member businesses are not only listed alphabetically, but they are also categorized by types of business or service that they represent.  These directories are given to all members, their employees, community visitors, and included in relocation packages.

Newsletter

The Chamber produces a monthly newsletter to inform the membership of all the current events, programs, and pertinent information.  We have an astounding circulation of over 350 and continue to grow.  The Chamber Newsletter is just one of the avenues the Chamber utilizes to provide various forms of recognition for our member businesses; whether in the form of advertisements, acknowledgement for their donations of time or business announcements.  It is one of our key communication components.

Internet/Website

The Chamber hosts an all-inclusive website for Montevideo that allows individuals to easily search the Chamber site and still easily maneuver back and forth to other community websites, such as the City of Montevideo, Economic Development Authority, local businesses, hospital, and so on.  It will allow users the capability to get all necessary information regarding our community without ever leaving our website.  Only Chamber member businesses will be listed on the Chamber portion of this website and only Chamber member businesses will be offered the opportunity to advertise on this site.

Monte Bucks Program

Monte Bucks are used to promote Montevideo.  Our employers and community members use Monte Bucks for an incentive, bonuses, rewards, prizes, or gifts because the recipients spend the money in Montevideo.  It’s re-investing in our community.  Only Chamber member businesses can accept Monte Bucks.

Chamber Sponsored Seminars

Chamber members receive a reduced registration rate to all Chamber sponsored seminars. 

Incentive Program

The Retail/Commercial Development committee sponsors the Chamber Incentive Program for new and expanding businesses.  The program brings Chamber member businesses together to offer financial incentives, such as matching advertising dollars, to encourage and support a strong business climate in Montevideo.

That you are represented by your Executive Director on the Montevideo Industrial Development Commission Business Task Force, the Montevideo Medical Recruitment and Retention Committee and the Downtown Property and Business Owner’s Coalition. 

That we sponsor a minimum of 31 programs or events per year; have nine active committees, and six active project committees.
